so you all have seen the touch ranger... and it kicks ass huh?
so i decided to foool around and make a touch ele and here how it goes
energy storage:12+3+1=15
blood:12
rest on air and (fire/earth)
skills:
vapiric gaze, touch, bite and all other blood skills rangers used, blinding flash, and bring one quik recharge aoe,and a def buf like armor earth
the deal:
w/ high energy storage and armor your energy should be around 70+ wayyy enuf for your blood skills.
use blinding flash on targest and cast away at ur blood skills and cas def. buff when needed
some say that the touch ranger is an exploit due to its effectiveness
to tell you the truth i made a touch ranger just to see how they played
truthfully i like the class i think its quite well rounded and i absolutey love blood skills, have been a fan of them from day one.
the touch "ranger" is used for its mediocre armour class and its ability to resist elemental damage (due to armour) quite well, not to mention its expertise which decreases energy used.
with the ele class im not sure how well it would do as ele's have low armour class however you've taken that into account and given it armour of earth. the 70 energy would take care of energy cost's
i think you may be on to something here, the touch class is pretty effective but i wouldnt say its overpowered. i for one think that ppl wouldnt even see it coming. maybe throw in a running skill somewhere, just as a reassurance.
but an ele charging at me. for one id just laugh until they got next to me and unleashed a whole world of hurt.
Armor of Earth - Enchantment Spell
For 30 seconds, you gain 24-53 armor, but move 50%-21% slower than normal.
Hmmmm Touch ele ......-50% movement speed......touch ele.....-50% spd
I guess Im the only one who sees that a essentialy GIMPING your build.
And to get good touch skills u 12 base blood, for high energy you need about 10 base storage to even half way make up for the expertise. You could try kinetic armor but u wont have the energy to keep it up long...all in all pretty crappy....
The only way this might work is if you went ice, so you could get away and maybe use ice AoE so people cant chase u if u need to run (which with your awsome armor you will)
If you wanted to really raise hell id go air, use windborn speed and touch skills combined with high energy and enevenrating charge to half all the mele damage ull be taking.
like
blood 12
ES 10
Air 10 or something
Same blood skills, but windborn speed/whirlwind, evenerating charge, lets you deal damage with touch skills and knock down aoe when ud need it with weakness casting attack spell....plus u can pick and choose who u attack cause ur moving faster than most and wont jsut be usely chasing someone all match
Honestly IMO touch eles = uselss Ar/N can do everything the Ele can do but better and easier.
You've got the Ar run buff all the necro skills and its been tested amillion times Expertise > Energy Storage.
the ONLY reaosn i see for going Ele/N (touch style) is so u can cast aura of blessing or whatever and gain hp everytime u cast a spell....
Kaz seems to be seconding the water magic line, which is a good choice but IMO you're better off going for a degen build and mixing it with ice. Basicly the ice blighter premade char is a pretty awsome one. I like the Ele/Necro....I ussualy go ice
use armor of mist and life transfer. Basicly cast slow on everyone with ice, use the degens to wear em down spike them to the kill with ice spear or ice spikes and run circles aorund them with armor of mist while the degens take effect.
But thats not a touch ele

Wow, I didn't realise there was such a big discussion about this going on... I like to play the touch elementalist from time to time. I'm sure I'll get slammed for my choice of elite skill on this but hey, I do this for fun!
I too am an E/N, I hadn't thought about combining touch Necromancer skills with the build (I hadn't thought about it too much anyway, I was too busy having fun with Ride the Lightening! ). I think that's something to look into.
I am aware that Whirlwind is the same as Tenai's Wind, I use it so as I can almost perpetually knock enemies down, since while I use one, the other recharges. I like the idea of using Windborne Speed, I'm trying to obtain that one, and I hadn't thought about using an armor spell, maybe if I'm to try to be more serious about being a touch elementalist I should look into these a little more.
I should just say - I had my first PvP experience the other day - I ventured into the Jade Quarry. Ride the Lightening is such a fantastic spell to have in that place - no-one expects an elementalist to pull an assassin-type move! Usually Ride the Lightening places you behind the enemy, giving me a couple more seconds before I'm noticed.

Well I for one wouldnt laugh at useing ride the lighting on a touch build b/c it does exactly what needs to be done, put u right next to someone.
The thing is....touch ele is a terrible term, it really doesnt apply to an Ele the same way it applies to a Ranger.
Rangers can reduce the cost of thier touch ****skills**** to about 3-6 mana a cast. With fast recharge times and heavy damage of most touch skills they are a wonderful class to play b/c of the sheer speed they can dish out unblockable damage.
To try and take advantage of this people seem to think "oh hey ill just pump E-storage". Sure it works...sorta but think about it. Most touch skills are 10-15 mana @ 80 mana (round about the most you're going to reasonably have after skills and atts) you only get 8 spells maybe 10 due to recharge before you're ooE, that's 8 touch spells, that doesnt take into account anything else u need to do IE windborn speed/ride the lightning, whatever...
so avg touch damage = about 60 depending on the **skill** sooo lets see using some 3rd grade math here, I come up with 560 damage. Which is just enouhg to take down someone from full hp leaving you ooE.
If that sounds good to you....you havent done enough real PvP.
Plus ALOT of the touch attacks in the elemental line are still SPELLS which has no bearing on the class since its not using expertise, but thats the whole idea behind a touch build to use expertise to reduce skill cost and increase spamability. The thing is people never seen to take regen into account. If I only have to regen 6 mana to use my next skill, thats a whole lot better than 15 which is the case with the ELE, sure on paper a touch ele may look comparable but when you take into account the amount of energy that must be regend as an elementalist to stay effective vs the ranger it is easy to see how much weaker of a class it is.
Factor in lower Armor Class and about 1/3 the ability to deal damage with regualr attacks....well you get u the point.
I guess thats not really the point of the thread tho.
I played a touch ele for awhile and it worked ok. Air/Blood ES
1. Shock
2. Awaken the blood/aura of restoration
3. Ride the lightning
4. Touch of agony
5. Vampiric Touch
6. Vampiric Bite
7. Life Siphon
8. Res Sig
Basicaly hit them with life siphon, use ride the lighting + shock, hit your touch skills, Agony first since it takes 20% hp form u due to awaken blood but since they are knocked down form shock who cares. repeat with touch and bite. till they die
Honestly its a great monk thumper build. wait for a monk to be around 2/3 or 1/2 hp, use ride the lighting + shock to kcock em down, spam ur touch skills and sihpon asap and the monk will usaly go down, you'll be OOE, basicly run aorund and use life sihpon to stay alive and regen mana. Pretty mucha 1 shot deal but it will at least u get u kills, just prey on the weak

I refer the honerable member to my previous statement which read something to the effect of "my first PvP experience"
Of course running out of energy doesn't sound good - it wouldn't to anyone I would imagine, and if I wanted to I could take a more sensible elite spell with me, but I often don't play too "seriously".
I feel it is probably 'six and two threes'. I can use Ride the Lightening to get close to the enemy and blast them with spells which, OK, drain energy, but they're quick to cast. Alternatively, I can stand from afar and, before i've even managed to cast Lightening Hammer/Orb/Surge, a warrior is onto me and...'cutting' me. by which time I really might as well be using touch skills.
Ahhh Celest that was in no way directed @ you sorry
as u can see the touch ele i built used the same elite as you, i was saying all that from experiance playing a touch ele here and there you just brought up a good combination so i wanted to expand on it a bit

well the way i see it... r/n will soon be nerfed for the beter part! and im hoping touch eles will kick in then
They aren't going to nerf touch ranger....They know any smart player can beat a toucher easily....And touch ele will never kick in the reason touch rangers have come to be as popular as they are is the efficiency, (not just energy efficiency wich is the only upside to touch ele) They can get repeated heals and they can not be touched by a warrior because of all the stances for evasion and throw dirt.
A touch ranger full of only touches would die very quickly and it seems that is what a touch ele would be...
